The seven apps at a glance
All seven run on iPhone. Here's what each is good for, how you get your clothes in and where else it runs.

Each name links to the app's own website. Checked in October 2026.
Whering: a free closet with a community
Whering is a digital closet you fill by photographing your clothes or picking them from its product catalogue. It plans outfits on a calendar, shuffles outfit ideas with its “Dress Me” feature, tracks cost per wear and has a social feed where you can follow friends. It's free, with optional paid extras, and has been around since 2020.
Pick Whering if you want a free closet that also runs on Android and in a browser.
Skip it if you don't want a social feed in your closet.
Acloset: AI outfit ideas
Acloset cuts your clothes out of everyday photos, suggests outfits with AI and has an AI chat you can ask what to wear. It also keeps a calendar and wardrobe statistics. It's free to start, with subscriptions, and has been around since 2021.
Pick Acloset if AI suggestions from your own clothes matter most to you.
Skip it if you'd rather keep AI out of your closet.
Alta Daily: AI plans for your day
Alta Daily suggests outfits with AI around the weather and your schedule, shows them on an avatar of you and builds packing lists for trips that you can share as a link. It's free and has been around since 2025.
Pick Alta Daily if you want an app to tell you what to wear each morning.
Skip it if you'd rather put your outfits together yourself.
Fits: outfits planned ahead
Fits pairs a digital closet with an outfit calendar, a canvas for putting outfits together, AI help with outfits and AI packing lists. It's free, with a Pro subscription, and has been around since 2023.
Pick Fits if you plan your outfits for the week ahead.
Skip it if you don't like planning ahead.
Indyx: help from real stylists
Indyx is a wardrobe and outfit app with paid sessions with human stylists and a service, in some US cities, that catalogues your closet for you. It tracks what you wear, builds capsules and lets you sell clothes you no longer wear. It's free, with a paid membership, and has been around since 2022.
Pick Indyx if you'd like a person, not only an app, to help with your style.
Skip it if you only want a closet app, without styling services.
Stylebook: one payment
Stylebook has been around since 2009. It cuts out your clothes with AI background removal, lets you layer and resize pieces on a free-form canvas for magazine-style outfit collages, and has a calendar, packing lists, cost-per-wear statistics and sync between iPhone and iPad. You pay once, with no subscription and no in-app purchases.
Pick Stylebook if you'd rather pay once than subscribe.
Skip it if you need Android or a web version.
Style In: one photo, every piece
Style In, the wardrobe app we make, turns one photo of a whole outfit into a sticker for every piece (AI cut), or cuts out one piece at a time by hand, always free. You make the looks yourself: drag, pinch and rotate stickers on a canvas, then pick today's outfit with a swipe in Today's look. Capsules hold the pieces for a trip or a season, and Your stats shows what you wear and what you don't.

It's private: no feed, no followers and no public profile, with an optional Face ID or Touch ID lock. You can share a look or a capsule as a picture, a video or a link you can turn off. It's free to start, with an optional Premium subscription, and launched in October 2026.
Pick Style In if you want your closet to feel like a sticker book and to plan trips with capsules.
Skip it if you want AI to suggest outfits, or you need Android or a web version: Style In has none of these.
Google Photos: a wardrobe in your photo library
Google Photos added a Wardrobe in 2026 that pulls clothes out of the photos already in your library and lets you mix them into outfits. It reached iPhone in September 2026, and so far only in the US, India and Brazil.
Is there a free digital closet app?
Yes. Whering and Alta Daily are free, and Acloset, Fits, Indyx and Style In are free to start, with paid plans for more. Stylebook is the only one you pay for when you download it.
Which digital closet app should you choose?
Start from the one thing you need most:
- You use Android: Whering, Acloset, Alta Daily, Fits or Indyx.
- You want it in a web browser too: Whering or Alta Daily.
- You want AI to suggest outfits: Acloset, Alta Daily or Fits.
- You want help from a person: Indyx.
- You'd rather not subscribe: Stylebook (one payment) or Whering (free, with optional extras).
- You want to make every look yourself, in a private closet of stickers with trip capsules: Style In.
Most of these apps are free to try, so the quickest test is to add a few pieces to two of them and keep the one you open again.
How we compared
We make Style In, so we don't score the others: we describe each app from its own App Store page and website, checked on 26 October 2026, and list only facts you can check there. The years are each app's first release on the App Store. If something has changed, write to support@styleinapp.com and we'll update the page.
